Claude Cowork is Anthropic's answer to the self-hosted-agent crowd: point the desktop app at a folder, describe the outcome, and it plans and does the work in an isolated VM. Setup is a few minutes on Mac or Windows — those two only, no Linux — and it spends your Pro or Max usage limits rather than a separate API bill. Start it on a throwaway folder, not your home directory.
Anthropic shipped ten finance agent templates — pitchbooks, KYC screening, month-end close — in two deployment modes. Three are operationally clean for EU fintechs today; four inherit DORA and AI Act weight that no template can remove. The engineering is real; the regulatory load just changes shape, it doesn't shrink.
